Won Gold in a world record time in the 100 metres backstroke at the 1965 Deaflympics, Washington, USA. This was her greatest achievement considering the final was on US soil.
Competed in two more Deaflympics: Belgrade, Yugoslavia 1969 and Malmo, Sweden 1973:
- Belgrade 1969 – finished well in all 4 Five finals yet had to be content with a silver.
- Malmo 1973 – won 3 more silvers, including 2 relays.
Finished 4th on 3 occasions – she would have won a few more Deaflympics medals.
Tremendously popular with a sparkling personality with an ever ready smile.
